Updates / closures

WELSH XC RACE SERIES – Round 2, 28th April 2024. Please note there will be trail closures on this date. The last red descent (The Dark Side) and some sections of the walking trails around the reservoir will closed for this race. Diversions will be in place.

The last section of B-Line (Black, jump line) is currently closed as we are revamping the last straight. Please follow the diversion signs when you arrive at this closure. Please don’t be tempted to go around these closures as heavy machinery and the trail builders will be busy working.

There are no other diversions in place.

Please also stay only on the waymarked routes throughout the forest during this period as a lot of heavy timber haulage will be taking place on ALL forest roads. Many thanks for your help and happy riding.

Bike Hire FAQ'S
What happens if my E-Bike hire runs out of battery?

We want all of our customers who use our hire fleet to have a great experience! We do recommend using the e-bike modes sensibly. To maximise your riding experience we strongly recommend keeping the e-bike riding modes in ECO and TRAIL and only using BOOST occasionally this is to preserve the battery life. Only use BOOST when the trail becomes extremely steep, this reduces the risk of running out of power while out on the trails.

Included in the full-day hire price, we do offer a free fully charged second battery, meaning you can carry on riding for the rest of the day. We have found it works best if the rider uses one battery for the morning, and uses one battery for the afternoon.

What else do I need to bring?

Before you pick up your bike, we’ll ask you to fill out a disclaimer form and provide us with a physical current form of photo ID, either a drivers’ licence or a passport. Without this YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE THE BIKE OUT. We also require a current utility bill which displays the same address as your drivers licence.

I am under 18, can i still hire a bike?

If you are under 18, you will need to have a responsible adult to complete the disclaimer and provide suitable photo ID. They will need to declare that they take full responsibility for your’s, and the bikes, safety during the hire period. Under 16’s must be accompanied at all times during hire period.

Do I need to pre-book?

Whilst we will always do our best to accommodate ‘On the spot rentals’, priority will always be given to pre-booked bikes and we do get fully booked at busy times. we strongly recommend pre-booking bikes with ourselves by using the form above to avoid disappointment. You will be required to pay in full at the time of booking.

What time can I pick it up?

We hire bikes out for an all day session, from 9:00-4:00. Your allocated bikes will be available for pick up anytime between 9am and 2pm.

What frame size should I choose?

All bikes are measured differently, so even if you know what size frame you normally ride, it’s better to just enter your height and let us tell you the best size. We only hire full-size adult bikes, so you need to be over 5’2” to ride.

What sort of bike will I get?

Our standard hire bike is a high quality hardtail with either a 27.5 or 29 inch wheel depending on the size required.

Full suspension bikes and e-bikes are also available at additional cost. The price of which varies depending on make, model and spec. The price is detailed when selecting the bike via our booking widget.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable and unrestrictive: tracksuit bottoms are ideal or – if you’ve got them – cycling shorts. We recommend against denim because it’s cold when it gets wet, and it’s not very comfortable to ride in. You should also bring a pair of gloves to wear.

How much does it cost?

You can hire our ‘Standard hire bike’ for a full day for £38.00 per bike (Including free helmet hire if you don’t have your own). An all day session is 9.00am to 4.00pm.

We do also offer full suspension hire bikes and e-bikes. Prices for these bikes differ depending on brand, model and spec, so please use the booking widget to select your preferred bike, the price will then be displayed.

Do I need to wear a helmet?

Yes: you can’t ride our hire bikes on our trails without one. Helmet hire is included in the cost of bike hire, but you are welcome to use your own if you prefer, providing it is in good condition and is certified by the relevant British Standards Institution (BSI) specification.
