After a lot of snow clearance we are now in a position to reopen the car park and visitor centre.
We have gritted the access road, so this is now passable with care. We have cleared and gravelled the lower car park, and are not far off being able to reopen the upper car park too. Please be aware there is still plenty of snow and ice in the car parks and extra care must be taken if you do come into the car parks.
In terms of trails, all footpaths will be reopened tomorrow morning and the Green and Blue MTB trails will reopen too assuming conditions do not change overnight. Due to emergency access restrictions, the Red and Black trails will remain closed for the time being. Please follow the diversion in place, which is along the Blue route.
The trails are still very much covered in snow, with approx 6 inches at the top of the forest. As this snow becomes compacted through use, it will become very icy in places. Please only venture out if you have the right equipment and experience levels for the conditions. Make sure you have extra clothing and food with you. Allow for much more time in the forest than you would normally, the going will be slow.
Please also be aware that the reservoir is frozen in places, do not be tempted to try and venture out on it, or allow dogs to go on it either.
If you have booked a hire bike for the weekend, we are happy to offer a full refund if these conditions don’t sound like they are for you. Please just get in touch and we will arrange that.
Please keep an eye out on our Facebook page for any further updates to conditions.
